I am trapped, controlled and pointless. Why can't I be free, why can't I do something meaningful? Or do anything at all?

Tinned haggis? [07 Nov 2006|06:35pm]
[ mood | amused ]

Whoever thought of the absolutely absurd idea to put a haggis in a can? i spent the past 15 minutes trying to prize it out with a spoon! when i had got it out, the instructions said to open the skin... BAD MOVE. it was packed with haggis liquid under such pressure that when i prodded it with a knife it decided to squirt randomly all over me and the kitchen cupboards. once under control i could use it as a sort of water pistol but that was only after my hoody began to smell of vegetarian haggis. *sigh* and this all happened before my piano pupil arrived. i must stink! luckily its made of carrots and swede and things, not lambs lung and liver. i think i would smell alot worse then!

I feel obligated to update because my friends page is absolutely blank! no one has updated in absolutely ages.

I have been a busy girl, i've been at Nevill Hall Hospital doing work experience. I went to operating theatre, x-ray, fracture clinic, Broncoscopy, Orthapedic clinic, Cardiorespiratory, Multidisciplinary stroke meetings, physiotherapy, a lecture on Obsessive Compulsive disorder, Pathology, Day hospital, A&E and went on Diagnosis wards.

I went to school today even though i wasn't supposed to. i was meant to be at the GPs surgery but whoever arranged it for me there didn't do a good job because no one seemed to know about it! it was fun being back though and seeing everyone. its a bit less stressful going to school because its not a brand new place with new people there. everything is the same. i get very nervous going to different places. i was very nervous at the hospital until i got used to it by about tuesday afternoon and started to know my way around. that didn't stop me getting incredibly lost on my last day. i went in the doctors mess, it was nice, just like a big sitting room with squashy armchairs. and everyone is really nice and helpful in the hospital. i don't think i met a nasty nurse or doctor.

i read practically all day, so when i finished my FANTASTIC book i went out for a walk. My limbs were aching for it so i walked and walked and walked, i didn't notice the incredible pain in the backs of heels till about half way; i'd forgotten to put socks on in my rush to get out of the house. so i walked bare foot the rest of the way - dodging sheep droppings and spikey nettles. there were so many sheep, they're such idiots. one sees me and the rest go running off, baaing like mad.

oh yes, i passed my theory test yesterday! it means that i can now go to stone henge as a treat. i never thought i'd pass, but i did. hurrah. i had 35/35 on the multiple choice and 52 on the hazard perception. not bad!

I want to not care what i look like when i get up in a morning and when i actually have a bath or sleep in a nice warm bed, i want to appreciate it. I want to go travelling!

I've just had a quick read of everyone's journals on my Friends page and the general consensus is: everyone is terribly depressed/cross/confused/generally unhappy.

I'm not unhappy though, looking on the bright side. Nothing is going wrong in my life, but of course i feel the strange feeling of being at a crossroads. And all the confusion of deciding my future.

I also feel disturbed. Terribly terribly disturbed. I made the mistake of visiting the Cardiff University DISSECTION room yesterday. I went in, ran out. I forced myself back in again. I shouldn't have gone in if i'm being totally honest but it is too late now. It was a shock. I've never seen a dead body and i hate horror/gory movies. It is a shock to see real human body parts on a table, limbs cut off and flesh cut away for teaching purposes. I know it's necessary for people to learn anatomy but really i wasn't ready!! i will be haunted by that forever.

[ music | Football sounds e.g crowd, crappy commentating. Great tune! ]

I am a really lucky person you know. So many good things have happened to me today! First of all Mrs Ellerington told me that the headteacher wanted someone's composition to be played at the awards ceremony in September. And my music teacher Miss Manners, picked me!!!! My composition! I was so chuffed. I ran over to say thankyou to her for recomending me. She said I had written really well for my romantic genre. All my hard work paid off in the end. I have to organise some lunch time practices before the end of term. It wasn't very well rehearsed when i recorded it to send off to the exam board. So this time it will be much better.

Second good thing of the day waaaaaaaas... I was really nervous about going to the care home but it was raelly good when i got there. All the staff were really friendly and i met some of the residents. One old chap said "Its nice to see young girls working here!" as he shook my hand. Bless. The house they all live in is gorgeous too, its traditionally decorated. Its lovely. I'm really happy i will be volenteering there. The lady said i wouldn't be able to do some things because i'm not yet 18 but i will be able to assist, and give out dinners and just be helpful really. I'm looking forward to it.

THIRD good thing of the day, I found out that Neville Hall Hospital will let me do some work experience! Its not for the dates i wanted in the summer holidays, its when i'm back at school in September for a week. But beggars can't be choosers. Mr Towill said it would be too late to get any work experience but i showed him! Mum says missing a week won't be too bad... i'll just have to see the teachers and get my friends to collect the notes for me. Its for a good cause anyway.

Ahh, i feel happy and lucky and very grateful.
